BLUE IRIS SANGHA, NEW ORLEANS  DISSOLVED NOVEMBER 25 2012

Blue Iris Zen Sangha in New Orleans was a fellowship for the practice of mindfulness that was founded in 1993 by Dewain Belgard, Art Samuels, Leslie Tremaine, and Shawn Nguyen.  Except for the interruption of several months when Hurricane Katrina destroyed much of New Orleans in 2005, the group met Monday evenings for sitting and walking meditation, dharma discussion, and reciting of the precepts until late November 2012.

Though Blue Iris Sangha, Inc has dissolved, there is  a group still meeting in New Orleans that uses the practice forms and recitations for the Refuges and Precepts as they appear on this site.  You can contact Louie by email for more information. (See email address below.)

If anyone browsing this site lives in the Brenham-Giddings-LaGrange area of central Texas and is interested in organizing a new Central Texas chapter of Blue Iris Sangha, please email Dewain.  (See email address below.)

If anyone living any where else is organizing (or has organized) a group that uses the practice forms and materials available on this website, please email Dewain if you want an email link listed here-- or a link to your own website.

Each formal practice  session begins with the Threefold Refuge and concludes with the excerpt from the Metta Sutta. The Five Precepts are also recited together weekly.
